Warranty FAQ

Which devices are covered?
Pre-owned smartphones and tablets sold by Spire Mobiles at £300 or above in Excellent or Good condition. Devices sold in Fair condition come with our standard 90-day warranty instead, and devices sold in Damaged condition are sold as-is with no warranty. The warranty starts from the date of purchase and lasts five years.
Do I need to keep my receipt?
Yes. Your receipt contains the IMEI number and purchase details we need to process a claim. We recommend keeping a photo of it on your phone as a backup.
Can I transfer the warranty if I sell the phone?
No. The warranty applies to the original purchaser only and is non-transferable. If the device is sold or gifted, the warranty ends.
What if my phone can't be repaired?
We'll offer a like-for-like replacement of equivalent specification. If that's not available, we'll issue store credit — at the original purchase price within 6 months, or the current resale value after 6 months, whichever is lower.
Is battery degradation covered?
Normal battery degradation over time is not a warranty fault — all batteries naturally lose capacity with use. However, if a battery fails completely within 90 days of purchase, we'll assess it under warranty.
What if I've had the phone repaired elsewhere?
Any repair or modification carried out by a third party after purchase voids the warranty. If you need a repair, bring it to us — that's what the warranty is for.
How long do repairs take?
We aim to assess all warranty claims within 2 working days and complete repairs within 14 working days. We'll keep you updated throughout.
Does this affect my legal rights?
No. This warranty is offered in addition to your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. It doesn't replace or reduce them.

Full Warranty Terms & Conditions

1. Who This Warranty Covers

This warranty is issued by Spire Mobiles ("we", "us", "our") to the original purchaser ("you") named on the warranty certificate. It is personal to you and is non-transferable. The warranty becomes void if the device is sold, gifted, or otherwise transferred to any third party.

2. Eligible Devices

This warranty applies to pre-owned smartphones and tablets sold by Spire Mobiles at £300 or above and in Excellent or Good condition at the time of purchase. Devices sold in Fair condition are not covered by this 5-year warranty; they are covered by our standard 90-day warranty against parts failure. Devices sold in Damaged condition are sold "as-is" and carry no warranty whatsoever. The condition grade assigned at the time of sale is recorded on the warranty certificate and is final. The warranty period begins on the date of purchase recorded on the warranty certificate and expires five years from that date.

3. Warranty Promise

If your device develops a fault through no fault of your own during the warranty period — meaning a manufacturing or hardware defect arising under normal use, and not damage caused by external forces or your own actions — we will, at our discretion:

  1. Repair the device using suitable parts at no cost to you; or
  2. Replace it with a device of equivalent specification and value, as determined by Spire Mobiles acting reasonably; or
  3. If repair and replacement are both not possible, issue store credit as follows:
    • Within 6 months of the original purchase date: store credit equal to the original purchase price.
    • After 6 months from the original purchase date: store credit equal to the current resale value of the device or the original purchase price, whichever is the lower.

We will always attempt to repair before offering a replacement or store credit. The remedy provided is at our sole discretion, having regard to the nature of the fault and the availability of parts and stock. All remedies under this warranty are provided without prejudice to your statutory rights.

4. Exclusions

This warranty does not cover faults or damage caused by, or arising from, any of the following:

  • Accidental damage, including but not limited to drops, impacts, and cracked or shattered screens.
  • Liquid or water damage of any kind.
  • Misuse, neglect, or use of the device in a manner inconsistent with the manufacturer's guidelines.
  • Any repair, modification, or tampering carried out by any party other than Spire Mobiles after the date of purchase.
  • Rooting, jailbreaking, or the installation of unofficial, unlicensed, or unsupported firmware or software.
  • Software faults, operating system issues, application errors, or any loss of data.
  • Cosmetic wear arising from normal use, including minor scratches, scuffs, or discolouration.
  • Battery degradation resulting from normal use over time. A battery that fails completely within 90 days of purchase will be assessed for warranty coverage; natural capacity reduction is not a warranty fault.
  • Faults arising from use with incompatible accessories or third-party charging equipment.
  • Loss or theft of the device.

Any attempt to misrepresent the cause of a fault or to present a device other than the one sold under the warranty certificate will result in the warranty being voided in its entirety.

5. How to Make a Claim

To make a warranty claim, please bring the following to Spire Mobiles at 19 Packers Row, Chesterfield, S40 1RB:

  • Your warranty certificate (original, printed copy, or clear digital copy).
  • The device registered under the certificate — the IMEI will be verified against our records.
  • A description of the fault you have experienced.

All faults will be assessed in-store. We reserve the right to refuse a warranty claim where: (a) the fault cannot be verified; (b) evidence of excluded damage is found; (c) the IMEI does not match our records; or (d) the warranty certificate cannot be produced.

6. Assessment & Turnaround

We will aim to assess all warranty claims within 2 working days of the device being received. Where repair is required, we will endeavour to complete this within 14 working days. We will notify you as soon as reasonably practicable if a longer period is required. If a warranty repair does not resolve the original fault, or if the same fault recurs within 30 days of a warranty repair being completed, we will re-assess the device and, at our discretion, carry out a further repair or proceed to a replacement or store credit as set out in Clause 3.

We primarily use original manufacturer parts for all repairs. Where genuine parts are unavailable, we will use quality-equivalent parts to an equivalent standard. Where neither option is available, we will proceed to a replacement or store credit as set out in Clause 3.

7. Conditions That Void This Warranty

This warranty will be voided, and no claim will be honoured, if any of the following apply:

  • The device has been repaired or modified by any party other than Spire Mobiles after the date of purchase.
  • The device's IMEI has been altered, removed, or cannot be verified.
  • The device has been rooted, jailbroken, or had unofficial firmware installed.
  • Evidence of accidental or liquid damage is found upon assessment, regardless of the fault reported.
  • The warranty certificate cannot be produced or the IMEI does not correspond to our sale records.
  • The warranty has been transferred, sold, or assigned to a third party.

8. Limitation of Liability

Our liability under this warranty is limited solely to the repair, replacement, or store credit remedies described in Clause 3. We are not liable for any indirect, consequential, or economic loss arising from a device fault, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of earnings, or the cost of any alternative device during any repair period.

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes any liability that cannot be excluded by law.

9. Your Statutory Rights

This warranty is offered in addition to, and does not replace or diminish, your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 or any other applicable legislation. If you are unsure of your statutory rights, you may seek independent advice from Citizens Advice or Trading Standards.

10. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising under this warranty shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
