We check the phone properly — battery health, screen condition, frame, cameras, all the buttons, charging behaviour — and then quote you a firm price. If we have you on the website's instant price already, we usually just verify the condition matches what you've selected and pay you on the spot.
Yes, almost always. We buy phones with cracked screens, water damage, faulty buttons, dead batteries, broken charging ports — even ones that won't quite turn on. Most national services either refuse those outright or pay almost nothing for them. We can usually offer something fair because most damaged phones can be repaired and resold.
The only common exceptions are phones with severe motherboard damage that we can't realistically fix, or phones that are still locked to an Apple ID or Google account we can't get past. In those cases we'll explain what's wrong and what your options are.
Then you take the phone home. There's no obligation, no fee for the check, no pressure. We'd genuinely rather you leave with your phone than feel like you've been talked into selling at a price you weren't happy with. Some customers come back a few weeks later when they've decided they want to upgrade after all.
Whichever you prefer. We can pay in cash from the till the same day for most amounts, or by bank transfer if you'd rather not carry the cash. We're required to record this for every phone purchase under UK second-hand goods regulations. It's a quick check and we don't share your details with anyone other than what the law requires.
Absolutely — bring as many as you have. We'll quote each one individually so you can decide which to sell, and we settle up in a single transaction at the end. Several customers come down with the family's old phones from a kitchen drawer and walk out with a useful sum of cash.
On a like-for-like basis, yes — bring us a written quote and we'll either match it or beat it where the condition genuinely matches. The reason we can usually do this is that we don't have the overheads of a national network, so we keep more of the margin, and we'd rather pay you a fair price than lose the phone to a competitor.
It's worth noting that our condition tiers may not exactly match CeX's grading system. We'll always be honest about what we think the condition is and explain how we've graded it.
Yes, every phone we buy is fully reset and wiped before it goes anywhere near our refurbished shelf. We strongly recommend you also do a factory reset yourself before bringing the phone in, and sign out of your iCloud or Google account first, since this prevents any chance of activation lock issues later.
If you're not sure how to do that, bring the phone in anyway and we'll talk you through it at the counter. We never copy, view or transfer any personal data from phones we buy.
Yes — iPads from the iPad Air, iPad Pro and standard iPad ranges, plus most current Samsung Galaxy Tab models. The buying process is identical to phones. Bring the tablet in, we'll check it, and quote you on the spot. Older iPads (iPad 2, original iPad mini, etc.) we don't usually buy because the resale market for them has effectively disappeared.
